Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Mundial Future 7-Inch Stainless-Steel Santoku Knife with Hollow EdgeCustomer Review: Incredible quality and amazing price Summary: 5 Stars
I have 3 knives from this set: the santuko, the serrated, and the paring knife. In the 4 or 5 years that I have had these knives these are the only 3 I have ever needed for any prep work or cooking. The santuko is jack of all trades. It can do just about anything a home cook would ever want to do and can hold its own against any professional grade knives out there.
If there is one thing I can say to tell people how good these knives are it is this. When I am traveling, whether it is across the country to stay with friends or family or across the city for dinner, and I plan to cook I bring my knives with me. In fact, the past few years I went to see a friend from high school and he has a set of Henkel knives. I prefer these. I am sure the Henkels are sharper and have slightly higher grade steel in them. But once you get used to this set you will have a hard time using anything else. The weight and the balance are perfect, at least for me.
In fact for Christmas last year the only gift I asked anyone for was a portable knife carrier to make taking these with me safer and easier. Before I would use rags and rubberbands to travel with them. That is how good I feel they are. I am always happy to try someone else's cutlery since I enjoy cooking and the equipment involved. But since starting to collect these knives I have not found another set that I would rather use.
My one and only complaint has to do with the grip. When doing a lot of cutting of smaller items I prefer to grip the knife at the top of the handle and hold the back of the blade between my index finger and thumb. It rubs a little weird like that and can leave a blister after a lot of use. But I only use that type of grip for certain things and I have never seen anyone else do it. So if you normally grip a knife in the middle of the handle you are fine.
